| Military Service | Charlie left his job on the railway in WA and returned to Mansfield in Victoria where on 27 June 1916 he enlisted in the Ausralian Light Horse 12/13th Battalion (service number 1951). He left Melbourne on 20 October with his regiment, boarding the 'HMAT Borda' and served in France.
