William CrutchleyAge: 63 years17721835

Name
William Crutchley
Birthyes

Note: FIRST THOUGHTS (Written c.1980) ... Though he was said to be "of Ecton, Northamptonshire" at the time of his marriage, there are no Crutchleys recorded there. I suspect "of Ecton, Northamptonshire" is a mistake; that the place might have been Coton or Teeton, both in the parish of Ravensthorpe, Northamptonshire, where two Crutchley families were having children in the 1760s. John and Sarah, who were married at Ravensthorpe in 1763 are the most likely couple to be William's parents. A "Sarah Crutchley" was a witness at William's wedding in 1791. The only known child of John/Sarah is Mary, bp. 1769.
Family Origin before 1750 (Age )

Note: In Northamptonshire the name CRUTCHLEY is rarely found before 1700 and after then mostly in the East Haddon area. The distribution nationally in 1881 shows the main focus in the west midlands, particularly the Walsall area (a town noted for its leather products). The original home of this name is possibly Critchlow in Lancashire.
